Which tasks, duties, and responsibilities the work\u2019s council in Austria has can be read here.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The work\u2019s council can be only elected, if there are\u00a0 5 or more \u201ccompany external employees\u201d (i.e. no close relatives of the employer). His term of office is 5 years.<\/p>\n<p><u>Main tasks:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work\u2019s council agreements\u00a0<\/strong>in regards to (by law) defined topics, such as:\n<ul>\n<li>Flexitime<\/li>\n<li>General regulations in regards to vacation<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of different control measurements within the company<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inspection rights\u00a0<\/strong>in regards to compliance with collective agreement and legal regulations, such as:\n<ul>\n<li>Remuneration according to collective agreement<\/li>\n<li>Equal treatment<\/li>\n<li>Employee protection regulations (e.g. working time, protecting clothes, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Insight rights\u00a0<\/strong>into all payroll records<\/li>\n<li><strong>Real right of co-determination\u00a0<\/strong>for worsening relocation or contract changes\u00a0 (above 13 weeks) of an employee<\/li>\n<li><strong>Information rights\u00a0<\/strong>in regards to\n<ul>\n<li>Start of employment \u2013 posteriori information<\/li>\n<li>Collective agreement classification, probation period, fixed contract end, end of employment, and job tasks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Information and veto rights in regards to<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>1 week prior to terminating an employee<\/li>\n<li>A posteriori information about a firing<\/li>\n<li>Possibility to challenge a termination at court, however, this possibility is given to each individual employee as well<\/li>\n<li>Information rights on recurring topics of the \u201eoperations management\u201c and economical information (e.g. operating numbers, order situation, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Duties:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>To maintain absolute silence\u00a0<\/strong>in regards to personal and company details<\/li>\n<li>Having all employees\u2019 backs<\/li>\n<li>Acting as a \u201c<strong>connector<\/strong>\u201d between management and the employees<\/li>\n<li><strong>Showing massive inequalities<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>The work\u2019s council has\u00a0<strong>no\u00a0<\/strong>influence on:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Individual agreements\/contracts<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Individual salary raises<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 agreements made in \u201e<strong>target agreements talks<\/strong>\u201c with employees<\/li>\n<li>Economic decisions from management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><span class=\"green\">The above mentioned tasks, responsibilities, and duties are only examples and should provide an overview on this topic.
